We unfortunately do not offer private lessons as we are not permitted to do so. UMD's Recwell department does offer tennis lessons and they have their own staff (some of whom are club members).  However, our practices do include a drill court which is great for all levels of players.

There are multiple ways to get your rackets strung. JTCC (the tennis center near the metro stop) offers stringing services for $20 dollars non-member. Some UMD club tennis students also brought stringers on campus, and they take $15. Note that this price does not include the strings themselves. We highly reccomend you bring your own strings from home if you have a preference.

Yes! We do not have a merch store year round, however we have an online store that is open for 2-4 weeks. Orders can be placed though the website and will be shipped to the club, from where you can pick it up. If you plan on competing and representing our univesity, we reccomend that you at least buy a shirt to serve as a 'uniform.'

Depends. While we are outdoors, we will notify club members via our GroupMe, email and our website. If we are indoors during the winter, practice is still on unless you hear otherwise from the club. 

JTCC is a large tennis facility we utilize in the winter to continue club practices. If you can arrange for a ride with someone who has a vehicle on campus, that is the best way to reach the facility. Otherwise take the 104 UMD shuttle from the nearest stop from your dorm or apartment and take it to the metro station. From there, cross the street and walk about 5 minutes to the facility. 

Fees are paid from an individual and go to the club via cash or Venmo (for other options, please talk to a board member). Fees are used by our club on various expenses, such as court rental expenses, providing balls, food and drinks for intraclubs, expenses related to hosting our home invitational and about 2/3 of formal. Travel expenses for tournaments and nationals fees are covered by the university, meaning fees are almost always spent on resources and events where almost everyone can use/participate.  Also, if you are unable to pay for fees for any reason, let us know! Talk to our treasurer and our board will work something out so you do not have to pay; we do not want financial reasons to be a barrier for you to participate in our club. 

No! Gas and hotel expenses are covered for by the club. Dining and other expenses are covered yourself though. We carpool to our tournaments so if you do have a car, please volunteer to drive and we will compensate your gas!

All of our announcements can be accessed via our weekly email sent to your personal or terpmail. This includes dates for social events, practice cancellations/changes, tournament sign-up links, community service events, fundraisers and more. Other updates can be found in the GroupMe or website but our email will go into detail about everything. 

If you really enjoy our club and want to pursue a bigger role, consider running for board! Our club holds board elections every November. Talk to the current board for more details.
